As his career progressed, he was a bandleader and lead guitarist for groups like Muddy Waters and Magic Slim & The Tear Drops as well as Willie Dixon.
Primer started leading his own band in 1995 called The Read Deal Blues Band. Throughout his career, he has recorded more than 85 albums and earned two Grammy Award nominations. He is also a member of the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame. Primer has played with some of the greatest names in blues music including Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr. and Johnny Winter among others.
