Within only a few years he had joined the doo-wop group, The Medallionaires, who achieved modest regional success through a handful of local hits. In the 60s, Burn set off on a solo career, issuing a number of singles through the Tip Top, Minit and Erica record labels. Soon the artist was touring the Midwest regularly with his backing band The Fantastic Epics, as well as with his band Jimmy Burns and the Gas Company.
