Pay tribute and relive the days of the Jerry Garcia Band when you buy JGB tickets. Founded and led by Melvin Seals, the JGB Band carries on Jerry Garcia’s legacy of rock music. Seals, an accomplished organist, was a member of the Jerry Garcia Band for fifteen years until Garcia died in 1995. After that, he continued playing concerts with bassist John Kahn and other former members. Unfortunately, Kahn died weeks later in 1996, forcing Seals to carry on without him.
Since then, Garcia’s music has lived on through the JGB Band with Seals at the helm, headlining his first outdoor music and camping festival honoring Garcia in 2004. In 2007, David Kemper (former drummer for Jerry Garcia) also joined the band. Current members include Melvin Seals, Mary-el, Lady Chi, John-Paul McLean, John Kadlecik and Pete Lavezzoli.
The light-hearted rock sounds of Garcia’s music echo through time and history, living on in another generation of audiences who can appreciate the good vibrations. Through Melvin Seals’ dedication and musical expertise, an invaluable legacy is not lost.
