Carroll has produced multiple top 10 hits on the Billboard Country charts. Carroll grew up in Youngsville in North Carolina. In 2004, despite his father’s religious stance against music, he won a singing contest held by local radio station WRAZ Fox 50. He had also started writing music, having completed the song “Alyssa Lies.” In only a year, Carroll was regularly performing on Nashville’s Music Row. Soon thereafter Carroll signed with the recording label Arista Nashville.

His debut album, Waitin’ in the Country, was released February 6, 2006, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Charts. The first single spawned off the album was “Alyssa Lies,” which climbed up to No. 5 on the Billboard Country Charts. The second single, “Livin’ Our Love Song,” reached No. 6.
