The album received rave reviews from critics, with many citing the group as the quintessential example of contemporary screamo music. Later that year Infant Island set off on their first North American tour, and in 2019 were listed by The Washington Post as one of the influential bands in the revival of screamo.
In 2020, Infant Island released Beneath, which again received high praise and earned spots on several critics’ Best Albums of the Year lists. Their successes continued with the release of Sepulcher later that year. The band has been noted for its similarity to high-profile screamo bands like Majority Rule and City of Caterpillar, as well as their unique incorporation of elements from the hardcore punk and black metal genres.
