Indy Jazz Fest Concert Tickets
Come see some of jazz’s top performers with Indy Jazz Fest tickets. The Indy Jazz Fest is an annual festival that was formed to highlight the rich jazz heritage of Indianapolis and create an arts-related destination, as opposed to sports-oriented activities such as the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 races along with the occasional NCAA Tournament Finals or Superbowl.
The first event was held in 1999 and featured jazz luminaries such as Branford Marsalis, George Benson and the late jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard along with mainstream artists such as Los Lobos, Chaka Khan and Isaac Hayes. It was successful enough that it was repeated the next year and brought in acts such as Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Dave Brubeck and singer Cassandra Wilson.
Come to Indianapolis and experience all the music that Naptown has to offer with Indy Jazz Fest tickets. After a few years, the consortium of Indianapolis businesses that had put on the festival originally relinquished control to The American Pianists Association in the early 2000s. In turn, the rights to the show were purchased by Allan Hall and Rob Dixon, both of whom are involved with Owl Studios, along with David Allee, owner of the Jazz Kitchen chain of restaurants.
The new owners decided to make the festival a non-profit organization, utilizing outreach to Indianapolis Public Schools, allowing children to be exposed to jazz music. The Indy Jazz Fest was originally held on Father’s Day weekend but is now held on the last week of September.
