Weekes, who is the lead singer and switching off between guitar, bass and keyboards, started writing music for the project as far back as 2009 while he was on tour as a member of Panic! At the Disco. Before even signing their first record deal with Fearless Records in 2018, the duo had already been described as “the hottest unsigned band in the world” on the cover of Rock Sound magazine.
Their first single, “Modern Day Cain,” was self-released in 2017 and broke the top 10 on the iTunes Alternative music Charts. They began expanding their fast-growing fanbase by hitting the road on tour and with stops at festivals worldwide. Their debut EP, 1981 Extended Play, was revered by critics and topped the US Billboard Heatseekers chart.
