Hirway went to college at Yale, majoring in art. He started to make music as One Am Radio in 1999 and recorded four albums between 2002 and 2011. He then started the project Moors with actor Lakesh Stanfield in 2013. The project's debut EP, the self-titled MOORS was released in 2013. Hirway revealed the song “Between There and Here,” which featured cellist Yo-Yo Ma while performing a TED Talk.
