They are known for their improvisational jam sessions in the spirit of groups like The Grateful Dead, as well as for their modern, hard-hitting style of bluegrass. The band was founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Chuck Sitero in 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia.
High Lonesome quickly developed a devoted regional following for their interactive and high-energy performances. In 2020, the band relocated to Colorado’s Front Range and made a series of lineup changes. The current members are Sitero on guitar and vocals, Andy Reiner on fiddle, Nick Einterz on banjo, Scott Slay on mandolin and Matt Thomas on bass.
In 2022, High Lonesome released their debut album We Hit the Road, and have since collaborated with high-profile country artists like Benny “Burle” Galloway. They have performed at a slew of leading venues in Colorado including the Gold Hill Inn, the Moxi Theatre and the Woods Boss Lodge.
