Laura Michelle Caner who is a songwriter and banjoist with the help of Eddie Caner who is a violinist and fiddler created Hey Mavis while they were artist-in-residence for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Hey Mavis was discovered on a Christmas compilation CD by the producer Don Dixon from Red Clay Ramblers, Smithereens and REM. With Dixon’s help, Hey Mavis released their two first full-length albums. These albums were Red Wine which was released in 2010 and Honey Man which was released in 2013.
