Prepare for a top-tier golf tournament with Hero World Challenge tickets. The Hero World Challenge is hosted by Tiger Woods and takes place at the end of every year as part of the PGA Tour. Though the event is listed on the PGA schedule, it is an unofficial tournament with unique rules and structure. Winners do not receive points toward the FedEx Cup Playoffs, nor do they receive official prize money. This is partly because the tournament is a charity event, with proceeds feeding the Tiger Woods Foundation for child health and education.
Unlike similar tournaments which feature 100 or so professional golfers, the Hero World Challenge only accepts the top 18 golfers in the rankings. Players consist of the winners of the four largest PGA tournaments, the top 11 players in the Official World Golf Rankings, the defending world champion and two final players hand-picked by Woods himself.
The Hero World Challenge begins with a pro-am competition in which professionals are paired with amateurs, and has seen many notable amateurs perform. Some of these include baseball stars Tino Martinez and Derek Jeter. The first Hero World Challenge took place in 2000 and was won by Tom Lehman.
