Experience the magic of live music with Hawkwind! Hawkwind delivers unforgettable live performances featuring hit songs that will have you dancing and singing along every minute of the concert. Originally named Group X, then later Hawkwind Zoo before dropping the Zoo, Hawkwind started out with former Famous Cure members Dave Brock and Mick Slattery. The duo were joined by Nik Turner, Terry Ollis, Sean McManus aka Dik Mik and John Harrison and were signed to United Artists in 1969, performing at the sort of hippie-loving open-air gigs prevalent at the time. Their self-titled debut arrived in 1970, but the sci-fi tripped-out influence was laid on heavier for their second album, 1971's 'In Search of Space'.

The group that now featured Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister on bass, enjoyed a top three single in 1972 with 'Silver Machine' and their next album hit the top 20. Lemmy left the group in 1975 to form Motörhead and the band recruited sci-fi author Michael Moorcock to write lyrics and play guitar and mandolin.

The group altered its line-up through the 1980s, releasing albums on their own label, and with the sudden death of drummer Richard Calvert in 1988, the band's composition changed yet again. In 2000, after the annual Hawkestra reunion (an event that sees past and present members perform for avid fans), Turner decided to create xhawkwind.com, a spin-off band of ex-Hawkwind members.

After Brock sued Turner for trading under the Hawkwind name, a court ruled in Brock's favour leaving Turner to perform under the name Space Ritual. In 2002, a brand new album was released under the name 'Take Me to Your Leader'. This album featured Brock, Richard Chadwick and Alan Davey with a guest appearance from Lemmy. Davey left the band a few years later and was replaced by Jonathan Darbyshire aka Mr Dibs.

In 2009 they celebrated their 40th anniversary with a series of concerts with a special Hawkfest at the Isle of Wight rounding off the festivities in 2010. 'The Machine Stops' was a concept album released in 2016, inspired by the novel by E.M. Forster. It marked the first new material from the band with new bassist Haz Wheaton. The album did well with the critics and led quickly towards a follow-up titled 'Into the Woods'. Grab your Hawkwind tickets now to see them live in your city!
