However, after a romantic weekend with his girlfriend, he realized he had an aptitude for poetry and music. The singer wrote a love song following his romantic getaway. The Dutch pop musician began his professional career in 1995, slaying popular hits as an integral part of the group Vagant. He performed in the Netherlands and Flanders throughout much of the 1990s and early 2000s. His backing band consists of members Marc Meeuwis, Jan Willem Rozenboom, Hugo Van Bilsen and Robin Van Beek En Dirk Oerlemans.
In 2015, Meeuwis was named among the first Dutch language performers to play a sold-out show with his hollow-bodied guitar in tow at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Meeuwis has released a slew of full-length albums and is widely recognized for scores “Het Is Een Nacht…,” “Per Spoor (Kedeng Kedeng),” “Zo Ver Weg,” “Ik Tel Tot 3” and “Je Hoeft Niet Veel Van Me Te Houden.”
