In 2012 Lafond began studying music at the CEGEP de Drummondville, where he quickly became one of the top students in the program. He trained under a slew of respected musicians, working as a session musician before joining the LongHorn Band as lead guitarist in 2013. The band became a resident artist at the Saint-Remi Country Festival, where they gave a number of celebrated performances.
Through the rest of the 2010s Lafond served as lead guitarist for the various female bands of CEGEP, and in 2015 performed at the opening ceremonies of the Quebec Winter Games. He has also served as lead guitarist for the Fais-Moi Ta Toune contest at the Festival des Gourmands d’Asbestos.
