See a compelling script come to life with Good Kids tickets. The stage play by Naomi Lizuka follows the aftermath of a high school party. This fateful gathering was the scene of a sexual assault that Chloe cannot remember. To complicate matters, the school is buzzing with gossip about what happened that night. In this dramatic piece, audiences will witness the main character’s inner turmoil and confusion as she navigates a personal situation in an era of social media and smartphones. The play allows for multiple sides to the story, letting audiences determine their own conclusions. Set in a high school in the Midwest, it draws on adult themes and language to tell a timely narrative.
The play premiered in 2014 at the University of Michigan as part of the Big Ten Theatre Consortium’s New Play Initiative, an organization dedicated to gender equity in the arts. Its writer, Lizuka, is a Tokyo-born playwright known for works such as Language of Angels. She has won multiple awards, including a 1999 Whiting Award and a PEN/ Laura Pels Theater Award, among other honors.
