Hear soulful music with Gold Coast Jazz tickets. When the Gold Coast Jazz Society came to fruition in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with the vision of Frederick G. Ruffner in 1992, it was a dream for many people. The society's mission statement is "to perpetuate and advance the cultural art form of jazz through performances, education and outreach activities."
The GCJS provides an opportunity for young musicians to perform their pieces in front of a large audience. Starting out at a small dining hall at the Riverside Hotel, this concert series continued to grow its fan base and expand to more shows, and it became necessary that the venue be larger as well. The Amaturo Theater at Broward Center for the Performing Arts was perfect for this endeavor, because not only does it have plenty of space but also many other great programs within its arts complex.

With their seven-concert jazz series runs from November through May every year, they also offer numerous jazz education programs such as JazzSLAMand basic courses like Jazz is Elementary, Facets of Jazz, along with featuring a program with the Jazz queen herself called Ella! First Lady of Song. They have put on such performances with Bria Skonberg, Shelly Berg Trio and The Kenny Barron Trio to name just a few.
