The duo’s first album delete.delete.i.eat.meat was released in 2005 on Turner’s own Trashy Moped Recordings label. In 2006 Paparazzi Lightning was also released on the same label as the group. They debuted on national television in 2007 on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and performed the track “Sad Sad City” off of Paparazzi Lightning.

After appearing on Austin City Limits, the group released their first live CD in 2007 called Live from Austin, TX. Their next album, Robotique Mystique, was released on March 4, 2008, after a video promoted the release at the Vegoose Music Festival in Las Vegas.

On December 26, 2007, the Austin American-Statesman newspaper announced that Ghostland Observatory was their band of the year. The group has performed at Coachella, which takes place in Indio, Calif., and the Voodoo Experience in New Orleans, La.

Their fifth album was announced while performing a show at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. It was released in 2010 and called Code Name: Rondo on the Red Green Catalog label. The group announced a hiatus on April 10, 2013; however, they have performed at South by Southwest in Austin and other shows.
