The Bulldogs established themselves quickly with back-to-back SEC championships in 1985 and 1986. They also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time after the 1985 campaign. Georgia reached the Sweet 16 both years.

There have been several All-American athletes in the program including Priscilla Pacheco and Nikki Nicholson. The pair became Georgia’s first All-Americans in 1993. Pacheco led the nation in kills per game in 1993 and 1994 which earned first-team honors. She was also named SEC Player of the Year in her senior campaign. Nicholson was a second-team selection and two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American in 1994 and 1995 as well.
