It’s the jangle of Charles Moothart’s sunburst Les Paul and his rather morose vocals which make Fuzz tickets the perfect escape from the humdrum of everyday life. Fuzz, an American rock band from San Francisco, CA was formed in 2011 and features members Moothart, vocalist/drummer Ty Segall and Vocalist/bassist Chad Ubovich.
In 2015, after a collaboration fell short between Moothart, Seagall and Seagall’s live band which included bassist Roland Cosio — together, they released two singles, “This Time I Got a Reason” and “Sleigh Ride” — Moothart formed Fuzz.
Moothart’s mission to form the hard rock trio began with his love of radio-ready riffs and colorful chord progressions. Moothart, enthralled with hard rock music, pondered how difficult it would be to write his own hard rock song.
Fuzz released its self-titled debut album, replacing Cosio with bassist Ubovich. The band’s sophomore album II was equally successful. The trio agrees that one factor setting II apart from their debut was the collaborative nature of the record. In October 2020, their third album III was released.
