Henner got his start in 2010 with the founding of Nasser, for which he was a guitarist, but then he moved onto a pop group called Husbands. In 2014, he went solo and produced his first single, “Between the Buttons,” and an EP called Angel. He got the name French 79 from a cocktail called French 75.
After touring for this first album, he took six months to create his next album, Olympic, a full-length release in October of 2016. With retro themes from the 1970s and 1980s, he produces very synth-like “club music.” Henner said his influences for the album were film scores from artists like François de Roubaix and Vladimir Cosma and other electronic artists like Daft Punk. In 2019, Henner kept the same sort of influence to produce his next album, Joshua. French 79 mostly tours in Germany and France.
