Founded in Toronto, the Canadian electro-jazz duo consists of keyboardist, bassist and guitarist Rob DeBoer and percussionist Tony Grace. The two began making music as a studio project while writing and producing music for artists on their label, Boomtang Records, but the success of the project saw them develop a live act and they began touring.
The duo’s first collection of songs was released as 1997’s The Album which was widely acclaimed by fans and critics thanks to popular songs like “Eastside”. Their sophomore album, Nocturnal, was released in 2001 and featured collaborations with a number of musicians, expanding their sound with the addition of saxophones, trumpets and more. Always experimenting and pushing the boundaries of their jazz-based sound, they released the danceable instrumental album, En Route, in 2007 which features fan-favorite tracks including “Noodle Soup”. They have remained creative and continued to explore their electronic acid jazz sound as heard on 2015’s Positraction and 2020’s Straight Round.
