The Florida A&M Rattlers and Lady Rattlers are the various sports teams that represent Florida A&M University in NCAA Division I sporting events. FAMU was a longtime member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, but switched to the Southwestern Athletic Conference starting with the 2021 season. The FAMU football team competes at the NCAA DI Football Championship Subdivision level in the SWAC. Florida A&M sponsors 13 varsity athletics programs, five men’s teams and eight women’s teams.
The FAMU Rattlers' most successful team has been the Rattlers football program, which has won the NCAA DI FCS Championship as well as several HBCU football national championships. Other successful teams on the Florida A&M campus include the FAMU Rattlers men’s and women’s basketball teams, both of which have won multiple conference tournament championships and made several appearances in the NCAA March Madness Tournament.
