Though their lineup has endured several changes over the years, the one constant has been frontwoman Maya Stoner, an Uchinanchu musician and visual artist. Floating Room released its debut EP Sunless in 2016, which established its signature introspective, droning style. Their follow-up, the full-length album False Baptism, was released two years later and saw the group deliver a more high-energy and aggressive performance.
Known for their experimentation in a variety of styles, Floating Room released the symphonic soft-rock EP Tired and True in 2020. The following year they put out Shima, an album which took a faster-paced, punk rock turn and saw Stoner give raw vocal performances reminiscent of her earlier band Teeath. Shima contained their retro hit “Firetruck.”
The Floating Room’s songs are known for their confrontational yet deeply personal lyrics. Their current lineup consists of Maya Stoner on vocals, Mo Troper on drums, Brenden Ramirez on guitar and Keegan Bradford on bass.
