Flickerstick is an indie rock band from Texas made up of members Tim Locke, Todd Harwell, Jeff Lowe, Dominic Weir, Cory Kreig, Rex Ewing and Fletcher and Brandin Lea. The band formed in the late ‘90s in Denton, as the members had been friends since high school. They played small gigs in and around the city of Dallas before self-funding their debut album Welcoming Home the Astronauts in 2000. The album was a regional success and received widespread radio play in eastern Texas.
Flickerstick rose to national attention in the early 2000s when they won VH1’s Bands on the Run elimination contest. On the back of the success, they were signed to Epic Records, through which they rereleased Welcoming Home the Astronauts. The album was a charting success on both the Billboard Heatseekers chart and the Billboard 200.
Despite a breakup after the release of Two Nights at Sound Tree Studios in 2007, Flickerstick reunited in 2009 to play a series of sold-out shows in Dallas and Fort Worth.
