Falstaff Opera Tickets

Purchase your Falstaff tickets online today and get ready to enjoy one of history’s most famous comic operas. The renowned opera was composed by Giuseppe Verdi with a libretto adapted by Arrigo Boito from The Merry Wives of Windsor by Shakespeare. The show revolves around the comedic efforts of a knight, Sir John Falstaff, to seduce two married women in an attempt to gain access to their husbands’ wealth. The piece premiered at La Scala in Milan in February of 1893.

Falstaff is the final opera of 28 total from Giuseppe Verdi, written as he approached 80 years old. Verdi had previously worked on two popular operas based on the works of William Shakespeare, Macbeth and Otello. It took him and Boito three years to finish the work and after the initial performances, it was not one of Verdi’s more popular works. It didn’t capture much interest outside of Italy until conductor Arturo Toscanini insisted on a revival at La Scala as well as the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Since the revival, the opera has become one of the most popular in opera houses worldwide, a staple in the world's operatic repertory.

What are the best seats to see Falstaff live?

Opera seating choices rely on both financial capabilities and personal viewing preferences. Audience members should choose mid-to-front rows in the center orchestra for the ideal sound and view combination but those who want a grand panoramic perspective should opt for seats in the front mezzanine or balcony. People should choose seats in the middle orchestra or mezzanine for the best acoustic experience because opera houses have sound systems that transmit sound efficiently to these areas. The rear orchestra and balcony sections offer affordable seating choices at the expense of slightly reduced sound quality.
