They were formed in 2013 by former This is the End bandmates drummer Mike Sciulara and vocalist Rick Jimenez with their other bandmates Pieter van den Berg and Christian Beale. Beale left two years in and was replaced by Ian Cimaglia from Detriment on the guitar, while van den Berg left in 2018 and was replaced by Tom Wood on the bass.
Extinction A.D. has profound lyrics streaming from social issues to underlying religious, political and death undertones. They released their first self-titled demo CD shortly after assembling in 2013 and an EP entitled Plague Prophecy a year later. In 2015, they finally released their debut album, Faithkiller and three years later followed up with their sophomore album, Decimation Treaty. In 2022, they released their third album, Culture of Violence, with the hit song "Mastic."
