A two-year fellowship program of Carnegie Hall, Juilliard and the Weill Music Institute, Ensemble Connect brings together extraordinarily gifted musicians to train them for careers by combining musical excellence, community engagement, entrepreneurship, advocacy and leadership. These young people receive intensive professional development and have first-rate performance opportunities. More than just a music program, this fellowship strives to prepare its young people to succeed in their lives and careers. Ensemble Connect collaborates with New York City public schools by doing twice-a-year residencies where fellows work with students in the music programs, visit classes and give lessons.
In that same spirit of collaboration and education, the performances of Ensemble Connect are interactive. The audience is welcome to explore a certain musical piece or concept, so the experience is much richer and deeper than just listening to something not understood. The ensemble puts on about one hundred of these interactive performances per year, with eighty of them held in schools. They truly support the community and the enrichment of the next generation.
