In 1995, four country musicians came together to form a new band named 12 Gauge. These four quickly began writing and recording music together, which gained the attention of country music fans in Canada, as well as CMT Canada. The band made some personnel changes, and Brad Mates, Danick Dupelle, Mike Melancon and Dale Wallace moved to Nashville in 1999. Their band name changed to Emerson Drive, and their first self-titled album was released in May 2002. This first album included the song, “I Should Be Sleeping,” which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Country Music chart.
