The company itself is a family business, formed in 1870 when Jose Josepet Satorres, opened Café Josepet, which became a social club. Jose’s gambling losses forced him to close it but after his death, his family reopened it as Bar Victoria, adding a theater called Theater Victoria sometime after. The club became the main leisure center in the area.

During the 1960s, nightclubs began to appear in Spain, with orchestras replaced by DJs. In 1973, Florida 135 opened, inspired by the Bronx and began to play disco and other electronic-infused international styles as well as the Catalan makina and the Valencian bakalo and other styles. It is now the oldest nightclub in Spain.

An example of the names and the themes the handles represent includes Brownx, which is inspired by the hip hop subculture of the Bronx, New York.
