The first formation of the band had Jus Osborn as vocalist and guitarist, Tim Bagshaw on Bass and drummer Mark Greening. The name was taken from the Black Sabbath songs “Electric Funeral” and “The Wizard.” They released their debut album, “Electric Wizard,” in 1995.
In 1997, their second album “Come My Fanatics…,” incorporated the stoner and sludge elements the band has come to be known for. This album has become a genre landmark. Later that same year, the group released the “Chrono Naut EP.” 1998 saw the release of “Supercoven.”
The group put together “Dopethrone” in 2000, which was described as a “dirge masterpiece.” The album is considered the band’s magnum opus. The band went through a dark period following this.
