For their work with Springsteen, they were entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
The E Street Band was born in Asbury Park’s thriving music scene, and Springsteen and the other members bonded over their shared love of the budding rock and roll genre. When Springsteen was signed to CBS Records in 1972, he recruited his Asbury Park friends to form his backing band. The E Street Band would go on to tour and record with Springsteen for the majority of his career.
Several members of the E Street Band would also enjoy successful solo careers on the side, the most notable of these being Steven Van Zandt, Roy Bittan and Clarence Clemons. The group occasionally performed and recorded with other high-profile artists as well, such as The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones and Neil Young.
