Though the Dry Branch Fire Squad has endured many lineup changes over the years, Thomason has remained a pillar of the ensemble, often playing multiple instruments during shows including guitar, banjo and mandolin. In 1978, the Dry Branch Fire Squad released their self-titled debut album and were signed to Rounder Records soon after.
The band is a mainstay of both San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival and the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival and has seen many prominent artists serve as members of the group including Bill Evans and Jeff Byrd.
