The band is made up of Joey Arcuri on bass, Claire Byrne on violin, Joe Kollar on banjo and drums and Dan Forsyth on guitar and vocals. Driftwood was founded by Kollar and Forsyth in the mid 2000s in Binghamton, though the two had known each other since high school.

After a number of years spent searching for their signature sound, Driftwood released their debut album Rally Day in 2009. By 2011 they had been signed to Old Boy Records, through which they released their sophomore effort A Rock & Roll Heart. It would take until the release of their self-titled 2013 album, however, for the band to rise to national attention. Produced by Grammy Award-winning engineer Robby Hunter, Driftwood saw the band make a slew of appearances on well-known programs like NPR’s Mountain Stage and Music City Roots. They have since performed at prominent events like the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance.
