The album’s popularity allowed the artist to be featured on NPR. In 2008, he released a second album, American Songster, under the Music Maker label.

The artist’s fourth album came out in 2014 and featured backup instrumentals by a variety of musicians. The album, titled Prospect Hill, received national coverage by the press and grew the performer’s following. In 2016, the artist began a project that compiled songs from African American history.
