Dollar Signs formed in the early 2010s, and originally featured only Button and Gunn. The pair played a folk/punk crossover style, and quickly gained a following in Charlotte’s underground music scene. After completing their lineup the group released their debut album in 2018, This Will Haunt Me. This Will Haunt Me caught the eye of Pure Noise Records, with whom they signed the following year.
In 2020 Dollar Signs released their most critically acclaimed piece, Heart of Gold. The release saw the band take a turn toward instrumentation not usually heard in punk rock, including synths and French horns. Heart of Gold earned praise for its sophisticated musicianship, compelling lyrics and infectious energy.
