He was born in 1981 in Austin and began learning to play guitar as a teenager. Walker briefly attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, then in 2002 released his debut album with the Django Walker Band, Down the Road.
Down the Road was recorded in less than a week, and all but one song were written by Walker himself. The album was produced by famed country artist Lloyd Maines, and contained the number one Texas Music Chart hit “Texas On My Mind.”
In the mid-2000s Walker released his sophomore album Six Trips Around the World through his own Lazy Kid Music label, an album which was produced by Mark Bryan of Hootie and the Blowfish fame. Walker has been widely praised for his unique sound and style which blends classic rock, folk and country music elements from influences as diverse as Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Pat Green.
