See one of the pioneers of Swedish death metal with Dismember tickets. Dismember formed in 1988 in Stockholm, and released their first album Like an Ever Flowing Stream in 1991. The album quickly established the group as artists to watch in the country’s nascent death metal scene, featuring aggressive instrumentation and violent lyrics. Dismember took a more melodic approach to their 1995 album Massive Killing Capacity, which increased their exposure and enjoyed more significant commercial and critical success. The band began to incorporate more traditional heavy metal elements in the vein of groups like Iron Maiden, in particular on their album Where Ironcrosses Grow. The growing public response to their music saw Dismember tour widely, most notably on the 2006 Masters of Death tour alongside high-profile death metal groups like Grave and Entombed.
After significant lineup changes, Dismember went on a brief hiatus in 2011 but reunited in 2019 to celebrate their 30th anniversary and perform at Scandinavia’s Deathfest. They continue to write and record music and are considered by critics as musical innovators, one of Sweden’s “big four” death metal bands. The current members are David Blomqvist, Matti Karki, Richard Cabeza, Robert Senneback and Fred Estby.
