The band name Devotchka is taken from the Russian word for “girl,” which lines up with the group’s origin.

Their song “How It Ends” helped Devotchka gain notoriety when the track was used in a video game ad for Gears of War II, a trailer for Everything is Illuminated and an episode of Everwood.
