Soon after, he began performing them himself and by 1971 was performing alongside a full orchestra and from 1975 to 1989 served as resident organist for the Ohio Theater. He performed his organ concerto with the Chicago Symphony in 1984 at the Orchestra Hall and toured throughout the decade alongside silent film stars Lillian Gish and Charles “Buddy” Rogers.
