The musical opened on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Theatre and starred Angela Lansbury in the primary role. Later that year, Lansbury would earn the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance.
Dear World enjoyed a significant revival in London in 2013 and remains a popular production with community and regional theater troupes across the world. Its timeless themes of the importance of love and art, as well as the pitfalls of greed and materialism, continue to resonate with audiences still today.
