Hear some great jazz with Dayna Stephens Group tickets. Jazz saxophonist Dayna Stephens was born August 1, 1978 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is the frontman for the Dayna Stephens group as well as being a sideman to numerous artists, such as Kenny Barron, Ambrose Akinmusire, Taylor Eigsti and Eric Hartland.
Stephens was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and started playing the saxophone at the age of 12. He studied under sax player Dann Zinn while in high school and also worked with piano virtuoso Kenny Barron while taking part in jazz camps and clinics at U.C. Berkley, the Stanford Jazz Workshop and Oakland’s Golden Gate Library as well as playing with his high school jazz band.

While in school, Stephens began to play professionally, playing with artists such as Ed Kelly and Khalil Shaheed.
Stephens’ debut as a bandleader was in 2007 with the release of the album The Timeless Now. His second album, A Week Ago Today, was released in 2012. He continues to release new albums, with two albums in 2020 alone.
