Shaw is a New Orleans transplant, after being born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio. While playing his guitar and singing on his porch one day, a man rode by on his bike and had to stop. That man, Zack Feinberg, helped Shaw form the rock band, The Revivalists, in 2007. Since then, he and The Revivalists have toured for almost twelve years.

Over that time, Shaw wrote many songs that were more personal to his life with a style that didn’t fit the band’s sound. Rather than just shelve the songs, he recorded a solo album at New Orleans’ Parlor Recording Studio, releasing David Shaw in May 2021. With a blend of rock, country, and soul influences, the songs echo Shaw’s goal to inspire people to look at their lives, overcome challenges and treat themselves and others well. Songs like “Got Me Feeling Good,” “Shaken” and “Promised Land” all speak to the soul with both truth and positivity. In an October 2020 Glide magazine interview, he said that “Music is the great communicator, and it’s a universal language… so I just want to shine a light”. Not long after the release of his album, Shaw headed out on his first solo tour, but remains a dedicated member of The Revivalists.
