The company seeks to use dance and movement to examine social and political issues, incorporating the use of text, dialogue and music with the choreographies to promote social change. One of the company’s choreographies is underground, which was inspired by the Weather Underground Organization, which aimed to overthrow American imperialization. Another charged work by the company is Disavowal, which illuminates the life as well as the legacy of abolitionist John Brown, called a race traitor at the time and was executed in 1959 for inciting a slave revolt.
