Dave Alvin recorded his debut solo album in 1987 entitled Romeo's Escape in the United States and Every Night About This Time in England, which was an LP of country and blues. He has released multiple solo albums over the years including Blue Blvd in 1991, an acoustic LP King of California in 1994, and the blues and folk Public Domain: Songs From the Wild Land, which received the Grammy award for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
