Before Daughters was formed, three members of Daughters were in a band called As the Sun Sets, which disbanded at the creation of Daughters. The drummer Jon Syverson, guitarist Jeremy Wabiszczewicz and vocalist Alexis S.F. Marshall were the members of As the Sun Sets and were founding members for Daughters as well. The other members of Daughters were bassist Pat Masterson and guitarist Nicholas Andrew Sandler.
In 2002, Daughters released its first EP called Daughters to great success. City of Hell Records was the label for this EP. A year later in 2003, Daughters with the help of the label Robotic Empire released their first full album called Canada Songs. In 2006, Daughters with Hydra Head Records released their second album Hell Songs. While recording their third album Daughters, Alexis S.F. Marshall and Nicholas Andrew Sandler got into an argument that ultimately broke up the band. Luckily, in 2013, Marshall and Sandler were able to get over their differences and Daughters was reformed.
