Howle then set off on a solo career in the late ‘90s, releasing her first solo album Live at McKissick Museum through Daemon Records in 1996.
Over the next decade, Howle established a reputation as a gifted songwriter, earning praise for her unorthodox vocals and clever lyricism. The late ‘90s proved an especially prolific period, with Howle releasing the albums About to Burst and Catalog in 1996 and 1999, respectively. Catalog would earn significant acclaim and was listed as one of the 200 Best Albums of the Year by College Music Journal. The songwriter currently serves as the artist in residence at Awendaw Green.
