She was raised by a Lutheran church choir director but her music mostly was influenced by The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and Carole King. Kaldor is a multi-instrumentalist playing piano and guitar.
Kaldor became an active presence in Canada’s folk music scene in the early eighties, forming her own record label, Coyote, and released her debut album, One of These Days in 1981. Three years later, she put out her sophomore album, Moonlight Grocery, which got her a Juno nomination for Most Promising Female Vocalist. Since then, she has released numerous albums including many albums that feature children's songs such as A Poodle in Paris in 2006.
