In 2007, he founded Cold Cave as his first experiment with producing his own instrumentation.

Eisold leveraged his connections to secure a deal with Matador Records, through which he released his debut album Love Comes Close. Though predominantly a solo project, Cold Cave recordings have occasionally featured contributions by notable artists such as Bleached, Xiu Xiu and Hatebreed. Eisold has garnered a cult following due to his enigmatic yet spectacular live performances.
