Born in 1986 in Michigan, Farren moved to Florida at a young age. He showed a talent for music as a boy, falling in love with punk rock as a teenager. At 19 he formed the band Fake Problems with friends from the area, releasing three moderately successful studio albums with the group before setting off on his solo career.
Farren went viral in 2014 following an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he presented a parody t-shirt to Will Smith. The resulting exposure saw Farren collaborate heavily with high-profile punk rocker Jeff Rosenstock, with whom he released the critically acclaimed EP Soulmate Stuff. In 2014 Farren released an album of original punk rock Christmas songs titled Like a Gift from God or Whatever, which featured a slew of notable artists including Mae Whitman, Laura Stevenson and Sean Bonnette.
