Born in 1961 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Gauthier rose to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s through her work in professional curling. Gauthier competed alongside curling world champion Connie Laliberte, winning two national championships on Laliberte’s team in 1992 and 1995. Gauthier then joined the team of Olympic curling champion Jennifer Jones, winning another national championship with Jones’ team in 2005. The year proved historic, making Gauthier one of only a handful of women to secure three national championship titles.
Later in 2005 Gauthier took a turn, leaving curling behind to focus on her family. She soon found work with the Canadian government as a broadcaster, offering commentary for curling matches on TSN, Global TV and Rogers Sportsnet. Gauthier’s son Jacques went on to become the 2020 Canadian Junior Men’s curling champion. She is also the aunt of Tyler Tardi, who has claimed the Canadian junior championship three times.
